房屋 - Premise vs Premises

可否用premise 而不用 premises來形容房屋? 幾時一定要用premise?

*********************************
-- 點解問?

因常見到文章只用premises,就算是只是指一個單位。

e.g. from yahoo dictionary: The firm moved to its new premises in 1971.(可能該公司只是搬去某大廈其中一個單位)

'premises'
is a plural noun and is never used in singular form - the meaning is

the
land and buildings owned by someone, especially by a company or
organization

('premise' without the last s can be used in singular form with a completely unrelated meaning - an
idea or theory on which a statement or action is based.)

Sorry for the poor format above. Below is a repeat.

'premises'解房屋時,是包括地和建築物,祇用眾數名詞。
單數的'premise'祇用於「前提意念」的意思。

Premise 同 Premises 其實係兩個完全唔同意思:

Premise (n.) = 前定, 假定:
the basic premise of her argument 她的論證的基本前提

Premises (n.) = (企業的) 房屋建築及附屬場地 (呢個字一定要個 ''s')
No alcohol may be consumed on the premises 場內禁止飲酒 (多用於告示)
