It depends on what type of league you are playing in.

Some leagues let you steal, some leagues don't. It all depends on where you are at, check the rules of the league you are playing in.

If your teacher says no, it is probably the rules you guys are playing under, ask him if you can do it in High School and he should say yes.

If he doesn't find a High School rule book or an ASA Rule book, that should answer your question.

If you are the batter, you are walked to first on your fourth ball. As a baserunner, you cannot leave the base until the batter makes contact with ball in most leagues. No leadoffs or stealing in softball.

Most people can throw harder and more accurately by coming over the top, but most importantly the ball will tail away when throwing from a side arm position which makes it more difficult to catch. I would listen to your coach and try to make the change as suggested. The larger softball is much more sensitive to rotation and movement because of its size so I would also suggest you use three fingers on top of the ball and the thumb underneath when throwing the ball.

When you're on base in softball you can steal right after the pitcher pitches the ball, no matter strike or ball. But if you leave before the pitcher releases the ball, you can get called out by the umpire.

You can run if you're on base anytime you want. You steal at your own risk. It's actually easier to steal when the pitch is a ball because it is harder for the catcher to get the wild pitch and throw.

If there's ball four, you can walk to the first base. But if there's strike three, you are out.

"Well, r u talking about stealing bcuz u can can run after the pitcher releases the ball..
If ur talking about up to bat if u swing on the third strike and the catcher misses it u run but, u have to swing.."

Sorry, Tiffany, but there is nothing in the rules that say a batter must swing on the third strike. If the third strike is a called strike, and uncaught, the batter may run if there are two outs, or 1B is unoccupied.

do you mean if you are batting or on base?

On base, you can try to steal whenever you want

Batting, 4 balls or a hit is the only way to get on

Yeah, if that is the fourth ball.
And if its the third strike and the catcher drops the ball, then you can run.
