It likely that the CCFL backlight is going to fail. The symptom is similar to a failing fluorescent light tube.

The remedy is to replace the CCFL. No need to replace the whole LCD panel. It should not be expensive. You can buy a new one or take from an old laptop.

If the LCD has not been used much, sometimes the flickering may be caused by bad contact of CCFL circuitry. Check any loose wiring.
