I have to use the following dialogues on the textbook,
to teach English to my ESL children. They are grade 3-4 kids
in China. Do you think my dialogues are fine, and can you please
simplify them to make them even easier to understand?

I think, the dialogues now are a bit hard for them to understand.
But if you think that's the best possible, please tell me.

Ben: He is the forward. He is responsible for scoring goals.

Ben: He is the defender. He is responsible for keeping the opposite team from scoring.

Ben: He is the midfielder. He helps the forward with offence, and helps the defender with
defense.

The dialogs are fairly clear, but I was not sure about the word responsible. I simplifed the descriptions somewhat, but note that the goalkeeper and the defender now have identical descriptions. I introduced the article "a" implying that there could be more than 1 forward, midfielder and defender on a team., versus the single goalkeeper. I am not entirely sure this is true, since I don't know if the game is soccer. I left the words offense and defense, thinking I could not simplify them much without muddying the water.

Ben: He is the goalkeeper. He tries to stop the other team from scoring a goal.

Ben: He is a forward. He tries to score goals.

Ben: He is a defender. He tries to stop the other team from scoring a goal.

Ben: He is a midfielder. He helps the forward with offence, and helps the defender with
defense.

Good Luck,

Grandpa

He is the goadlkeeper. He defends the goal.

He is the forward. He scores goals.

He is the defender. He stops the opposite team from scoring.

He is the midfielder. He helps forwards, and defenders too.

That's pretty easy, I think!
