It is good that you have a goal.

But in clarifying your situation, you should always secure your financial resources before you apply. So-called financial support is not mainly designed for you as international student (as most financial support is designed for domestic students in most of the case). Even financial support itself bears the meaning of loans as well.

In answering your concerns:

You can review the following document:

http://www.princeton.edu/admission/pdfs/How_to_Apply_09.pdf

It is a admission guide for the 2009/2010. But you can use it as a reference.

Ask if you have further questions.

Each loan has its own characteristic. So what I can say is it depends.

What I will suggest you to do is instead of trying to finding a school, focus on how you can get the money for the school.

Hong Kong has scholarships available for overseas abroad. But it is too competitive.

In your case, sorry to say that, no money no talk.

In applying to the school, you will have to prove you are financially capable in admission.

That's why I said, no money no talk. No money, no talk about admission.

You may try to apply some universities in Texas. Years ago, some Texas universities (not the private ones) have "waiver", if you can successfully apply their scholarship. The scholarship is only few hundred bucks, but the waiver can waive your international student fee. Instead, you only pay for in state student fee. So, you only need to pay around 20% of what other int'l student pay. Beside the scholarship, some of the works in school may also qualify the "waiver". You can check with some universities, and see if the "waiver" is still there, and how you can qualify it.

For famous schools, once your GPA is good enough, you can transfer to other school you like, subject to if you are up to their bar.

Hope it helps!
