i) Discuss the differences between the growth of bacteria in nature and that in artificial culture.

ii) Explain why salt and sugar have been used to preserve food.

1)In nature bacteria have to compete difference conditions such as sources of food , temperature , water , any presence of growth inhibitor ,......etc . Until the bacteria have good growth conditions they would multiply to form next generations . But in culture , they grow & breed in good conditions .
2)This is because sugar & salt can absorb water even through cells of plants & animals . Most bacteria cannot survive whithout water .
