If distillation can clear all impurities, why not just use only distillation?
Why use sedimentation, filtration and then distillation???

Distillation requires a lot of energy, and hence the cost is the highest among other purification methods. Sedimentation and filtration cost less because the amount of energy spent is not as much as in distillation.

when we use distillation,usually we want to obtain both distilled water and the solid left after evaporation. If we don't use sedimentation, filtration first, the solid we get will be less pure because there are other kinds of insoluble impurities.
