A natural mineral water distributor bottles mineral water at the source.
The volume of water in a one-litre bottle is normally distributed with a
mean of 1,005 ml and a standard deviation of 15 ml.


a )What is the probability that the volume of the content of a randomly
selected one-litre bottle will be exactly 1,005 ml?

b) What is the probability that the volume of the content of a randomly
selected one-litre bottle will be between 990 ml and 1,002 ml?

c )Find the value of V that makes the following statement correct:
‘5% of the volume of the content of the one-litre bottles is less than V ml.’
d) Repeat part (c) by using Excel. You are required to submit a
computer printout of the relevant Excel spreadsheet that contains the
corresponding input function (with specified values for each of the
parameters) together with the output figure.

其實只有一個答案.問題有一點不太清楚,如(a)問題說剛好是1005ml,如果真的是1005ml無多無少,則概率=0.但題目的數字沒有小數位,則可能有另外一個理解,就是經四拾五入後才=1005ml,如果是這樣的話,則剛好是1005ml可以理解為介乎1004.5-1005.5ml之間.因題目可以有不同理解,所以我也提供了兩個相應的解答,作為參考.

(c)或者可以這樣表逹
Pr(Z<(V-1005)/15)=5%=0.05
=>(V-1005)/15=-1.645
=>V=980.3
