What gary said is INCORRECT.

His answer is on Double Degree , not double major .

His example of BSc (Physics) and Bsc (Chemistry) mean you have 2 individual degree, if one degree require 74 credit (Just a figurative assumption, not necessarily this way) a double degree will take you anywhere from 74 - 148 credit. (Depend if there are exemption or advance standing)

For a double Major you graduate with Bsc (Chem & Physics) or BComm (Accounting & Econ) It is a SINGLE DEGREE with two major, that's all. If that degree require you to get 74 credit to finish, you only need 74 credit to get both subject cover.

1 & 2.

US College are using an Exit point system, where exit point exist when you achieve certain requirment.

Unlike what gary said, Major will not affect your discipline so you can just not finish and choose to exit the program when you achieve enough credit.

Double Degree however, you will need to drop the one you cannot finish before you can graduate. As it involve an outstanding Credit point.

Dude, change major or drop major in the same discipline is actually very common in University. It happens a lots (I cahnged 3 times before i graduate....)

You can either exit or continue with your other major

no, as you have already finished the Physic part of your degree, you do not need to do them again.

No, as it is fixated on the same degree, you only pay more if you go for more than your usual load or you repeat your load. Double degree tho, will result in double the fee.

Usually 2, 3 is extremely rare, as there are bound to be class conflict in between. You cannot major another subject from another discipline. That you require another degree as you usually cannot fulfill the whole complement with your already overloaded unit.

You can only major in different aspect FROM THE SAME DISCIPLINE

refer to this KSU (Kansas State University) for the different between Double Majors and double degrees

Also notice that,Dual majors are only sees in north America, you cannot get Dual Majors in UK or Australia.

IN UK/Australian System,, Dual Majors = Dual Degree,

How funny is that,

I now think GAry does not even have elementry grade Reading Level.

Please tell me, from my answer,
where i say "YOU CANNOT DROP MAJOR ANY TIME?"

I said gary are wrong because you are thinking Double Degree but the asker is asking Double Majors. Not because you cannot drop major anytime, when did i said that, huh?

My points has already illustrated by the KSU link i supplied in this question.

Droping major infact have the same procedure for dropping double degree, in most colleges, they actually uses the same form

But the fact to the matter is, in North America,

When you double a core major in the different discipline, that's called Double Degree likea BSc and BA

When you double a core major WITHIN the same discipline, you are double major.

Gary's answer would have been correct, if the asker is asking any College System other than US/Canada.

as i said already, in other country, a Double Major = Double Degree no matter what discipline.

therefore my conclusion is Gary does not study University in the US, maybe HK or UK, i dunno...

This is what i said you are wrong, please read my answer carefully before you comment.

Option 1. You can still graduate without chemistry.

But your school may need you to drop chemistry as a major officially.

Double major will not increase your tuition in general as double major candidiates will have not extra fee for just being double major. But you will still be liable for the additional time spent in the college - For example, if double major in chemistry will cost you additional 1 year. What you have to is to be accountable for that one year of tuition.

Usually, in rare cases, college may allow triple majors. But in practice, that one must be a different study.

For example, you are earning a B.S. Physics and B.S. Chemistry. The colleg can in fact force you the third one need to be a B.A.

Lool in fact is incorrect.

You are allowed to drop a major at any time, as soon as you have the school's approval.

So you are not forced to finish the major.

A similar example will be dropping out from a school (as you are not required to finish everything before you drop out).
