Should I switch schools or not?

You should absolutely switch schools, but not for any of the reasons you've cited above. Gossipy, cliquish behavior is normal in school, and can unfortunately often extent into adulthood - particularly in small, rural communities. Switching schools will likely not help you with this problem.
However, you are obviously not receiving the educational attention you need. For this reason, yes, switch schools.

I remember several major changes of my life was due to the change of the surrounding environment, of course, the changes can either be good or bad. From your case, I would suggest you to change to new school and get everything restarted. However, you should bear in mind that, gossiping, unhappy relationships with other people often occur in life, you should eventually learn how to deal with these situations. But yes, a change in the surrounding environment may shake up your situation, perhaps you would find the new school much better, and personality would change too.

The best solution is to confront the problems and try to solve them, but if you truly feel unhappy at your school, it will help your education to leave. Realize, however, that changing schools is a lot of work, you may have the same problems there, and you'll be changing schools by default anyway when you move to high school. I would perhaps recommend you look into home schooling, which is a great option for middle schoolers. In the end it is your decision, and I suggest you conference with trusted teachers and parents on the issue, because they often have helpful insight on this sort of issue. Be honest with them. I dont think that would be the best soloution for you, i think you should stay away from the drama and try to find new friends.
