they are trying to say that you are not cocky and you don't constantly think you're the best person in the world. the earth doesn't revolve around 1 person and you realize that. You still recognize when you do something well but you don't gloat about it. And if you do something (ex. give a good idea for a project) but someone else receives credit for your idea, you don't say OMG THAT WAS TOTALLY MY IDEA!!! in the grand scheme of things, as long as you're proud of yourself, no one else really matters.

It means they are modest. I myself am humble. it is one of the many, many respectable qualities about me.

Being humble (not to the point of being obsequious) and having humility are much admired traits; being humble means to be grateful for whatever you have and understanding that you do not know everything you need to know and your life will be spent learning. You do not possess arrogance and that is a great compliment and a great blessing.

someone who takes things as they come, deserves a medal and doesn't complain just keeps on taking life by the horns!
one who is deserving and does not brag and write a novel about oneself...someone that is friendly, caring and takes care of others a when really they deserve the pampering
