By law, you pay Salaries Tax on your actual income by the year of assessment if you work in Hong Kong and your earnings from employment exceed your entitlements to tax allowances.You should therefore write a letter to Inland Revenue Department stating that you have chargable income for Salaries Tax purposes. This is an evidence you have done your part as a tax payer. Moreover, you should also received a Form IR 56B - your Employer's Return on your salary received in the year of assessment 2009/10.
