有一個很簡單的記法

........ that ....... 呢個帶有subordinate clause(從句)

如果that後面己經係passive voice, 咁樣就要加to be.

This house is said to be haunted
(passive) (passive)

如果

This house is said haunted
(兩個動詞連住文法不許可)

又或者

This house is said is haunted
(後面又加一個is文法也不許可)

所以, 唯有將is變做原來的be, 因為be可變做is/am/are

This house is said to be haunted.
(兩個動詞中間要用to分隔)

1) People say that this house is haunted.
全句分兩部份
People say = 主句
that this house is haunted =名詞子句 (haunted = past participle
used as adjective 作形容詞)
Main subject of the main clause is stressed 重點放在people

2) This house is said to be haunted.
this sentence has exactly the same meaning as the first one; but the emphasis is on the house, and therefore the verb after it is in passive voice.
第二句等同第一句, 重點放在屋, 所以用被動式
Usage 文法
句式: something is said / belived + to be + past participle (used as
adjective) 有人說/相信 + to be +過去分詞(作形容詞)
is said to be / is believed to be是一種慣用被動式用法 (an English Usage)
people say the house.. 主動式; the house is said... 被動式
is haunted ----> to be haunted

This house is said..............這樓房據說是.....


to be=infinitve as adv成為.....haunted=participle as verb.(人們) 經常到的地方.


加to be 只是修飾haunted. 不要也可以.
