Let the capacity of the small tank = X

Therefore ( 7 / 2 ) = ( 5+X ) / X

so 7X = 2 ( 5+X)

==> 7X - 2X = 10

===> 5X = 10
=====> X = 2 ( L )====> the capacity of the small tank

let the small tank be x L.
(x+5)/x=7/2
x+5=3.5x
2.5x=5
x=2
so the capacity of the small tank is 2L.

Let the capacities of a large tank =7kL

and the capacity of the small tank =2kL

7k=2k+5

5k=5

k=1

the capacity of the small tank=2L
