If you are talking to a shop-keeper, you need not explained to him/her the main purpose of your trip, usually, we would say, I am from somewhere, or I am a tourist /stranger here. You only need to explain the purpose of your trip to the immigration officer when you entering into a country.

My main purpose of being here is for travelling.
Can you pack these items in a better way? We will send them along with the airplane.
Can we leave these items here and come back later to get them?
