Gary drives a car at a speed of 80 km/h from city A to city B. At the same time, Louisa and Connie drive at a speed of 60 km/h and 65 km/h respectively from city B to city A. If Gary meets Louisa 30 minutes after he has met Connie, find the distance between city A and city B.

Assume Gary meets Connie after travelling for x hours, then Gary meets Louisa after travelling for ___x + 1/2________ hours. (30minutes = 1/2 hour)then the distance between city A and city B
= 80x + 65x or 80(x + 1/2) + 60(x + 1/2) ,
Hence ,
80x + 65x = 80(x + 1/2) + 60(x + 1/2)
145x = 80x + 40 + 60x + 30
5x = 70
x = 14
The distance between city A and city B
= 80x + 65x = 145x = 145*14 = 2030 km
