the point of the question is you want to know what values can n take to make the above statement true?
the trick to this question is remembering that when yu divide an inequality by a negative number the inequality sign changes direction!
what does -2n have to be divided by to get n? the answer is of course -2.

this gives n>-4. but remembering the rule about dividing inequalities by negative numbers?? so instead the answer is n<-4. this means that 'n has to be smaller than -4, in order for the equation -2n>8 to be true'

divide each side by -2, remember when you divide by each side by a negative you need to change the direction of the inequality symbol. Therefore,

n<-4 --------> notice the symbol is in the opposite direction

note: the same rule holds for multiplication, but NOT for addition and subtraction.

-2n>8
-2n/-2<8/-2
n<-4

-2n > 8
n < -4

to get n by itself, divide by the -2. The thing to remember is that when you divide by a negative, you need to flip the greater than sign to a less than sign.

so when you do this you get

n<(8/-2)
or n < -4

I hope this helped

Answer; n is less than-4
the inequality is reversed when you divide by a negative number
