15 minutes to 12 in the afternoon

請問以上是指"11:45" 定係 "23:45"呢?

我有點confuse的是: "in the afternoon" 係指 "12" 定係指個答案係"in the afternoon"呢? 如果係: "in the afternoon" 係指 "12" , 咁 :

15 minutes to 12 in the afternoon = 11:45 (11:45am) 15 minutes to 12 in the morning = 23:45 (11:45pm) am I correct?

in the afternoon 意指中午﹐因此是11:45。若果是23:45 就是 at midnight

It is more like an IQ question. Roughly speaking:
Morning: 0000 to 1200/12midnight to 12noon
Afternoon 1200 to 1800/12noon to about 6pm
Night 1900 to 0000/about 6pm to 12midnight
'15 minutes to 12' can be in the morning or night, but not 'in the afternoon'.

Afternoon means after noon (12:00 noon), but usually afternoon refers to the period after mid day but before sunset.
Logically it should be 23:45 but in terms of common sense, it is misleading.

11:45 should be referred to as 15 minutes to noon, or 15 minutes to 12 in the morning.
23:45 can be better expressed as 15 minutes to midnight or 15 minutes to 12 at night.
