Bar at the Foiles-Bergeres,( the given url), painted by Manet, is a masterpiece full of imagination. In this painting, the lady is standing and facing the audience. Behind the lady is a large plane mirror, we can see there is a gentleman standing in front of the lady. It seems that the painter want to give the viewer a feeling that he is standing at where that gentleman must be. Discuss.

If the gentleman is standing at where the gentleman is, accordong to the Law of Reflection, the image of the gentleman should be directly opposite the lady on the mirror. But the painting shows that the image of the gentleman is to the left hand side of the lady. This seems not following the Reflection Law.
