I seriously doubt Jeter will become a FA. He's a lifelong Yankee and overdue for serious injury. He'll probably end this year on the DL and that'll wipe out most of his FA value. Jeter is an icon with the Yankees and if nothing else the Yankees will sign him so that no other team will be listed on Jeter's HOF plaque. Jeter could retire today and be a first ballot HOFer. For that reason alone the Yankees will be sure to sign anything remotely reasonable from Jeter.

IF (and that's a big if) Jeter becomes a free agent, Yankees fans will be leaping off the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and every bridge in between.

Jeter has 2,766 hits averaging about 190 to 200 hits a season which will put him at around 2,940+ hits at the end of 2010. There's no way in the world he does not come back in 2011 and become the 1st Yankee to get 3,000 hits.

The entire state of New York including Mets fans would hang Brian Cashman by parts he has yet to discover if he didn't bring Jeter back.

Consider him as good as resigned.

Frankly, i do no longer see why any baseball fan might hate him. all and sundry talks approximately how scuzzy Bonds is and how Bradley has a bad character and how Schilling talks to a lot and on and on and on. There are each and all of the PEDs consumers and corked bat consumers and on and on and on. Then baseball gets an extremely stable guy for a metamorphosis. So what does all and sundry do? They placed him down. they think of they are cool, yet you spot the undertaking. there is not any appealing them. supply the guy his due. The play at abode plate against Oakland, the sprint into the stands on the foul pop-up, the often being a superb guy as a substitute of a whiner or a cheater. . .suck it up and only the two like him or no longer say something. i admire him positive. Baseball could use extra like him.

I doubt very much if it will happen, in fact I'd say there's less than a 3.5% chance of it. But, lets say it does, then, I think AROD will go back to SS, and they'll bring in a new third baseman.

...and, when Jeter signs with the Mets, Jose Reyes goes to the Phillies to replace Rollins...

....there's a couple of more stories for you.

There is a 0% change Jet is gonig anywhere....

But for the sake of argument, Tex/Arod/CC would become the faces of the franchise, that would just be weird...who would they get to fill in at SS? With as much talent as the Yankees have without Jeter i could see them sliding down to second or third place next year. You would think that one player dosent make that much difference but you would assume loosing Jeter would mean also loosing Pettie, & posibly Mo that would be cripliing to the Yankees. Plus who knows how much longer Posada is gonna hold up back there. I honestly think Posada/Montero will be swithcing off dh/c starting as early as next year...assuming Montero dosent regress badly!

Your question doesn't even make sense. Besides, Derek Jeter isn't going anywhere soon. At the end of the season, the Yankees will sign him to at least a 3 year deal, maybe more.

Yeah, that man is going nowhere except with the Yankees again. The money is too good for him to leave. He will forever be a Yankee. I don't think anyone could argue this.

Jeter will become a free agent at the end of the season.

Then the Yankees will sign him to a new 5-6 year contract.
Jeter isn't going anywhere, and the Yankees want to keep him.

Not only does he mean an immense amount to the team as a leader, and not only do the fans love him, but the Yankees have never had a player get 3,000 hits with the team (Winfield and Boggs are the only 3,000 hit players who have been on the Yankees).

First ballot HOFer, and he might end up 3rd on the all-time hits list. In other words, the Yankees will spend the money to keep him, and he doesn't want to play on another team.
