Probability you have to use another function COUNTIFSThe formula becomes:
=COUNTIFS(A1:A5,"1",B1:B5,"y")

Enter the following formula without hitting the "ENTER" key:
=SUM((A1:A5=1)*(B1:B5="y"))
Then press -CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER simultaneously
The formula will appears as:
