哈佛圖書館自習牆上的訓言(文法問題)

You know what. I think the grammar is wrong, and it is bad English. I have no idea what it means. However, as I'm writing this I'm so worry that I'm the one who is wrong, because this is written on the wall of the library at "Harvard". On second thought, however, anybody could have written on that wall, and they are not endorsed by Harvard. I'm not going to let the big name scare me.
Replacing the word "changes" with "changing" makes it better, but still wouldn't make the whole sentence grammatically correct, or convey a clear meaning either.
