Can I use my Chinese Re-entry Permit to enter China from Canada directly?

Depend on how you get your Candian Passport.

You can only if you get your Canadian Passport by
-Born In Canada
-MIgrated and Naturalised Before 1997 Turnover

You cannot if you get your Canadian Passport by
-Migrated and Naturalised After 1997 Turnover

The reason is this, you will not be HK Chinese Citizens if you claim other Citizenship after 1997 Turnover, unless that is a birth right citizenship.

If you are no longer HK Chinese Citizens, you no longer hold the right to use and renew Chiense re-entry Permit.

I am a frequent traveller between China and Canada and now living in Vancouver
I am also holding a HKID and Chinese Re-entry permit 回鄉證. Most update infomation, I know this apply to USA and Canada only , holding of Canada passport are not allow to use the Canada passport fly to China without a China visa ,

But in Europe , I use the Canada passport fly to China, they accept the re entry card, I do not why?

So you case may be you use your HKID fly to HK and use land route to enter
China.

Or go to apply a visa. Be remember, the embassy is very crowd and need to go as early as possible.

for this particular question, I have consulte the immigration officers at Shanghai airport , they claimed that who care what the passport you are using, if you
re-entry card is valid, then you are allowed to go to China via any port of entry.

Now the biggest problem is the airline may reject you while you are checking in
for the reason of no China visa.In fact local newspaper had showed a few
passengers had been reject for checking in.

Local Travevl agent also does not encourge to travel without China visa.

I know using the SARHK passport + re entry card can be accepted to travel to
China and being accepted by the airline.
