Hi

I would like to know if there was direct airline service between Beijing and Tianjin before the opening of the new high speed rail line. If there was airline service, is it still operating, which airline flys it?

Thanks!

Beijing and Tianjin are right next to each other. There is no reason for airline service between them. Train and bus have always been the public transport options between the two cities.

As far as I know, there have never been flights between Beijing and Tianjin. I lived in Tianjin 20 years ago and we always took the train or a group of us would get a van to go to Beijing.

I'm heading back to Tianjin in May for a reunion with my Tianjin friends. I'm just going to stay in BJ with other friends and commute to TJ for the day for the actual reunion!

numerous reasons: one million. inhabitants density. there are in simple terms some components of the U. S. with inhabitants density severe sufficient to make a rail equipment workable. The northeast hall as an occasion. 2. We already have a great air community. you could fly in simple terms approximately everywhere as low value or extra low priced than rail. pass to Europe. The trains are not low value, in simple terms sluggish and a discomfort, extraordinarily in case you're going an prolonged distance. you need to shuttle via highway automobile to the practice. and then practice to a city with a huge airport after which you fly. pretty super cities in Europe do no longer even have an airport. 3. Rail is not extra safeguard than air shuttle, actually the different. regardless of 911, air is the main secure. in simple terms ask the human beings of Madrid. 4. that isn't any longer much less damaging to our environment. construction a extensive new community might take extra supplies than making use of those we already have.

Look at elong.com for plane tickets. Currently there are no flights.

There was a train service for a long time. It used to be 2 hours, and obviously before that going back probably over 100 years, there were train services between the 2 cities.

Often the best way from tianjin to Beijing is to take a group taxi. The price is the same per person as the rail link, and takes about 2 hours, but the taxi will drop you off where you want to be in Beijing, saving you money on the taxi fare from the south train station or save you time taking the bus from the south train station.
