Do you think the Red Sox will sign David Ortiz again?

No haters please, just really what can actually happen. He seems like a legend in Boston, but business is business. Everyone else is saying how there is no way that he will be signed again and that some other team will probably take him for a lot less. That as a DH he really isnt batting the way a DH should. And for that $ they can def get someone better. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance

By the way, this is the last year of his contract.

I am a huge Red Sox fan but I think Ortiz is gone after this year. Boston is loaded at first and third, leaving them too many DH candidates. The fact that Ortiz can't field kills his value. And if Lars Anderson turns out to be as good as the hype, then Ortiz is most definitely playing elsewhere in 2011.

Too bad really, as he was and is an exciting ballplayer and has helped Boston to their two World Series victories in the past 6 years.

They will probably keep him for one more season. The Red Sox need to start looking into the future however. Ortiz is nearing the end of his career. If Boston can make a deal during the season and before the trade deadline, don't be surprised to see Ortiz get his release. Just my opinion.

Boston's lineup is heavily deeper than the Twins meaning Papi will see extra pitches. a good number of the credit is going to the no longer common paintings Papi put in with Ron Jackson, the former pink Sox hitting coach who developed an persons' ability as hostile to the "cookie-cutter" approach employed by using many

well this coming from a sox fan. i dont think so. i mean he is "fan favorite" but as we all know if u dont produce than theo doesnt want u. i mean i believe papi was good during his early years whether it was the roids or not but i believe he is washed up. hes injury prone now and not consistent so im hoping that they dont resign him and spend it on someone younger who will be their furture. adn not lars anderson

No haters? Well, I don't hate the Red Sox but I don't like them either. Im a Yankees fan and that's why. But you know what? I respect the Red Sox. They are a great team. I don't hate players unless the cheaters. Ortiz is a talent. I like all the talents. I believe that Ortiz will stay in Boston and end his career there. He is like the face of Red Sox. When I think about Red Sox I also think about their home run machine, David Ortiz.

Yes they will only if he happens to play as several people would hope he is still capable of doing. I still believe in big Pappi he still has potential to be a very good DH this year provided that he has a better start this year than he had last year.

Yes, David Ortiz will be staying with the Red Sox, but depends on the contract.

For a DH, David Ortiz has not been doing well. I really can't see him taking over at first base though. The Red Sox have better fielders.

I think it will all depend on this contract year and I think the benchmark will be last year. If he can show that last year was a slump and that he is out of it, I think the Red Sox will keep him. But, if he does about the same or worse than last year, I don't think they will sign him. You do have to keep in mind that he has an option for the 2011 season, so if it's close, they could just keep him another year. But, if I was to guess right now as to what they were going to do at the end of this year, I would say no, they do not offer a new contract.

Well he will play in Boston in 2010 the Future Uncertain but in the End He will stay with the Red Sox
