An intense earthquake was recorded by the Hong Kong
Observatory
at 1:00 a.m. today (Wednesday, 31 March 2010).

The epicentre was initially determined to be near Andaman
Islands, India Region
(13.6N, 92.9E), about 210 kilometres north of Port Blair,
India. The magnitude was estimated to be 6.4 on the
Richter Scale.

這次發生在大陸四川規模7.8的大地震，造成嚴重的傷亡，相較於9年前的921大地震，震度7.3，也造成上千人傷亡，無家可歸；專家說這次四川大地震的威力，是921的5.5倍，相當於251顆原子彈的威力，由於這種類型的地震，無法事前預知，也難以防範。
