Comment on the remarks of the follwoing students. Do you agree with them?

Student A:
When we suck soft drink using a straw, we exert an upward force on the soft drink.

No. The student cannot exert such a large sucking force on the soft drink.

In fact, the student just suck the air in the straw into his mouth. Pressure is then reduced inside the straw. There is a pressure difference between the inside and outside air. The atmospheric pressure outside therefore pushes the soft drink up the straw to restore the pressure difference.
