If you have added "the", you will know that is a school in Hong Kong and it is called "Chinese University".

For example:

Sometimes, you want to tell your friend that the woman standing there is your mother.

If you don't use "the", the sentence will become, "Woman standing there is my mother". That means if there are many woman, all of them are your mother!

But if you have added "the" in your sentence, "The woman standing there is my mother". Your friend will then can react quickly and know who she is.
