Isn't Tom and Jerry an over-rated cartoon?

Now this cartoon I had experiences with. I grew up watching Tom and Jerry. I personally never liked the show. But as a kid I wanted to watch cartoons so I had no choice. The cartoon was made to be funny, but I rarely laughed. Most of the time I felt bad for Tom. The poor cat was doing nothing wrong. He was catching the bad mouse who breaks everything and the whole cartoon he always gets hurt. The whole episode is of him being dangerously hurt and miserable. What kind of a show for kids is this? It raises kids to be mean and unconcerned and do wrongdoings just for fun. It is not funny. The mouse is bad and makes it seem like its good. I always thought it was too cruel. It is not a joke at all. I had taken that serious and always wanted Tom to catch Jerry. Wtf. No offense to all you T&J lovers but this cartoon is horrible for kids and should be banned.
