✔ 最佳答案
3/2 = 1/2y - 1/4
6 = 2y - 1
2y = 7
y = 7/2 or 3.5

Answer: y = 7/2 or 3.5

Checking:
3/2 = 1/2(7/2) - 1/4
3/2 = 7/4 - 1/4
3/2 = 6/2
3/2 = 3/2
2010-03-15 3:59 pm
6 = 2y - 1

2y = 7

y = 7/2
2010-03-13 3:32 pm
3/2 = 1/2(y) - 1/4
3/2 + 1/4 = y/2
y = 2(3/2 + 1/4)
y = 3 + 1/2
y = 6/2 + 1/2
y = 7/2

ok well you need to get 'y' by itself so our problem is:
3/2=1/2y-1/4

since you want y by itself cancel -1/4 which turns into:
3/2+1/4=1/2y

Now, we need to find the greatest common denominator in order to add those fractions and i well if you multiply 3/2 by 2 you will get 6/4 so NOW our problem looks like this:

6/4+1/4=1/2y

6+1=7 so now we have 7/4=1/2y

We need to get y by itself so we multiple 1/2 by the reciprocal and we get:
y=14/4 and to put it in simpler terms

y=7/2 or if you want it in decimal y=3.5

HOPE THIS HELPED :)

(3/2)+(1/4)=(1/2y) <--- let the Y be alone in one side
(6/4)+(1/4)=(1/2y) <---- common denominator in one side
(7/4)=(1/2y) <----- add fractions since they have the same denominator
7*2y=1*4 <--- cross multiply
14y=4 <---- simplify
y=4/14 <---- divide by 14 to solve for Y
y=2/7 <------- simplify

easy, you just need practice

multiply by 2y on both sides
3y = 1 - y/2
3y + y/2 = 1
7y/2 = 1
y = 2/7

Assuming the y term is (1/2)y instead of 1/2y),

multiply by 2:
3 = y - 1/2
3 1/2 = y = 7/2

Assuming the y term is 1/(2y) instead of (1/2)y:

3/2 + 1/4 = 1/(2y)
7/4 = 1/(2y)
2y = 4/7
y = 2/7

3/2=1 1/2 to make it easier
So you have 1 1/2 = 1/2y - 1/4, add 1/4 to both sides and you get
1 3/4 = 1/2y, now divide both sides by 1/2 and you get
y = 7/2
2010-03-13 2:19 pm
=1/2y-1/4-3/2
=2/4y-1/4-6/4
=2/4y-7/4
2/4y=7/4
y=7/4 x 4/2
y=7/2

Thats how I think you solve it

To add fractions, they need to have the same 'denominator' -- the number on the bottom of the fraction.

3/2 = 3/2 * 1 = 3/2 * 2/2 = 6/4

1/2 * y = 1/2 * y * 2/2 = 2/4 * y

This leaves:
6/4 = 2/4 * y - 1/4

Everything has the same denominator, so you can add and subtract the 'numerators' -- the numbers on top of the fractions. To make this simpler, you can just multiply everything by 4:

6/4 * 4 = 6
2/4 * y * 4 = 2 * y
1/4 * 4 = 1

This leaves:
6 = 2 * y - 1

I think you can take it from here ;)
