如要成為一位大學教授，要有甚麼資格和能力？

美國大學的教授分為三級：Professor、Associated Professor 和 Assistant Professor。要做教授應先取得博士學位，然後再做幾年的 post-doctorate 研究，才會有機會擔任 Assistant Professor。

雖然亦曾有只有碩士學位的教授，不過絕無僅有！

Normally a PhD plus outstanding achievements in research for many years. Exceptionally, people with outstanding achievements in a particular industry or in research may also become a professor. I have a friend, who has no PhD, has been a professor because of his outstanding achievements in his expertise area.
