It seems like Americans don't like to boil water at home. Why? Where do they get the hot water from?

Thanks, but Dave C got my point.

People boil water all the time in the US... that's how we cook pasta, make soups, teas... etc.

Americans don't like drinking plain hot water which is quite common in Asia.

Most Americans don't NEED to boil water for hygiene purposes if that's what you are referring to...water is heated through a water heater and voila!! People have to boil water for cooking purposes all around the world even in America believe it or not so I don't know if your assumptions are correct.

I don't know where you are getting that information from. I boil water for cooking almost every night.

I have never heard that before. I am; from America and we have hot water from the faucet. WE have water reglations here where we do not need to boil it to keep it clean but I boil water for cooking in my house.

Most buildings have a water boiler in the basement that heats water and sends it up to the kitchen and bathrooms in pipes. The water is not boiling hot.

But we do boil water for food.

I'm an American... and if this is true, I surely didn't know about it :). I boil water all the time-- for tea, pasta, rice, coffee, boiled eggs, soup, sauces...etc. It's something I do every single day in the kitchen. Though I have an aunt who doesn't cook very often, and if she needs to boil water she ALWAYS boils it in the microwave. But I don't ever use a microwave for anything.
