The shock absorbers on a car are designed to dampen then vibration when the car goes over a bump. If a shock absorber reduces the vibration of the body of the car by 70% each time it passes the equilibrim line of the shock absorber, how far would the piston of the shock absorber travel in 3 bounces after the car hit a pothole 20 cm deep ?

The distance of the piston of the shock absorber travel in 3 bounces
after the car hit a pothole 20 cm deep:

First bounce + Second bounce + Third bounce
20cm x 30% + 20cm x (30%)^2 + 20cm x (30%)^3
= 6 cm + 1.8 cm + 0.54 cm= 8.34 cm
