Should the Dodgers Trade Manny?

2010-03-02 10:40 pm
Since Manny said that this will be his last season as a Dodger... I think the
Dodgers should trade him in the middle of the season if he is having an "average season"
I mean there will be no point in keeping him since its his "last year"

I say they trade him in a package for a speedy fielder... a juan pierre type.. and get an ace...

wat do you think?

Right...firstly, your question is a candidate for dumb question of the week.

They just got rid of Juan Pierre himself...a speedy type, curently one of the weakest hitters in the game (he does hit for average but no productivity).

In mid season there are no "aces" available...in fact the Dodgers pitching is fairly well set.

Then Manny. He's untradeable. No one would pick up on his 20M salary, and no team would give up players to get a 38 yo declining slugger.

First of all players usually play better when they're on the last year of a contract.
Second of all, the Dodgers will most likely be in the playoff hunt.
Third of all, only a contending team would trade for him and they certainly wouldn't give up an ace and probably not a speedy fielder either.

The Dodgers are stuck with him unless they want to trade him for some prospects or for another similar type player.

I think the problem here is simply: Who'd want Manny? After arrogance, stubbornness, sell-absorbing in a pool of vanity and trying to get pregnant last season, I can't think of any team who'd want the joke in their club.

For all the human beings who think of that crimson Sox followers in simple terms gave up on Manny Ramirez, you're incorrect. it fairly is lots much less annoying for somebody to declare that as quickly as they are not a crimson Sox fan, and who hasn't watched him over the seven years he has been playing in this ball club. you attempt dealing along with his concepts-set for seven years and perchance you will think of and have a distinctive opinion on Manny Ramirez, besides he's a corridor of attractiveness participant. authentic Manny Ramirez is a sizable power bat. definite that's a sizable loss, besides the shown fact that it is likewise a brilliant benefit. Having somebody on your ball club that's so disruptive is a sizable blow. He became into unlikely to offer the numbers that he's fairly nicely able to producing. Why via fact he would not carry any further. He no longer hustling out performs, and rolling on the floor like a lunatic. Calling his acquaintances throughout the time of innings. and that's just to call some disrupting acts with the help of Manny Ramirez. i've got faith very sorry for Jason Bay getting into Boston and attempting to fill the void that Manny Ramirez left. yet that does no longer advise Jason Bay can not do it. it fairly is with the help of all potential isn't announcing that Jason Bay is even close to to Manny Ramirez, via fact somewhat frankly he's no longer. yet he's no longer a bad participant. He has the comparable numbers this 12 months as Manny Ramirez, and he became into hitting in a pictures ballpark. it's going to be lots much less annoying for him to hit in Fenway Park, via eco-friendly monster being so close. the gap is in simple terms 310 to the nicely-enjoyed monster. If that would not improve up Jason Bay's favourite i don't know what is going to. Jason Bay has sixty 4 RBIs this 12 months to this point, he is going to get a brilliant variety of possibilities andchronic in a brilliant variety of runs. in simple terms look who he in front of him; Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia, and David Ortiz. i do no longer think of the crimson Sox made out besides as they could have, yet i do no longer think of that's a complete bust. you nonetheless get a high quality at-bat with Jason Bay, and you are not getting an concepts-set such as you are able to with Manny Ramirez.

He said this is his last year, that means he will do his best because he wants to have a wonderful end in his career. It is a good idea if he plays average. But they need to find another left fielder who could do good at the position. And the lineup will change. They cannot trade him easily. They should think about it carefully.

No because manny will only play well were he wants to play and he likes in LA so they should just keep him there
they might re-sign him
any way he is a good ball player so why trade him

his career Numbers are
Batting average .313
Home runs 546
Runs batted in 1,788
Hits 2,494

here are some more of manny's accomplishments

12x All-Star selection (1995, 1998–2008)
9x Silver Slugger Award winner (1995, 1999–2006)
2x Hank Aaron Award winner (1999, 2004)

World Series MVP Award winner (2004)
Led AL in batting average in 2002
Led AL in home runs in 2004

Who would pick up Manny for $20m for the season, not to mention you would have to give up a boatload of prospects, even if Manny came at just p/u the contract would you really want to pay $20m for a guy who cant play the field & couldnt catch up to the fastball last year? Without the juice Manny really showed how much he relyed on chemical enhancements.

A Juan Pierre type would be a good fit because some of the younger players are hitting the ball harder now. Manny is about at the end of his career and can be a huge liability. His worst fear is being irrelevant and that is coming soon.
