hypochlorite+dilute acid will release chlorine gas
2 H+ (aq) + OCl− (aq) + Cl− (aq) Cl2 (g) + H2O (l)

我想問既就係hypochlorite應該只係指OCl−
但係點解係上面條式中會出現Cl−
上面條式應該係chlorine bleach+dilute acid既reaction
chlorine bleach同埋hypochlorite應該係2樣唔同既野

First, you should know how hypochlorite ion is formed.

Cl2 (g) + H2O (l) --} H+ (aq) + OCl- (aq) + Cl- (aq) + H2O (l)

From the above equation, we can know that there are hypochlorite ions (OCl- ) and chlorine ions (Cl-) present in the solution.

Therefore, you can find chlorine ions and hypochlorite ions at the same time.

Difference between chlorine bleach,

The formation of chlorine bleach is as follows:

Cl2 (g) + NaOH (aq) --} NaOCl (aq) + NaCl (aq) + H2O (l)

The above equation is orginally combined from 2 equations.

Cl2 (g) + H2O (l) --} H+ (aq) + OCl- (aq) + Cl- (aq) + H2O (l) -----(1)

From equation (1),

There is hydrochloric acid and hypochlorous acid. This two acids react with sodium hydroxide solution to give sodium hypochlorite and sodium chloride.

HOCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) ---} NaOCl (aq) + H2O (l) ----(2)

HCl (aq) + NaOH (aq) ----} NaCl (aq) + H2O (l) ----(3)

By combining (2) & (3),

we can obtain (1)


From the above analysis,

we can see that there are hypochlorite ions and chlorine ions in both chlorine bleach and chlorine water.

有兩道明顯錯處
1. 無錯條式的確係chlorine bleach + dilute acid既反應
但上面條式出現Cl-係因為HCl
HCl係aq state底下係完全ionize變成H+同埋Cl-

2. "chlorine bleach同埋hypochlorite應該係2樣唔同既野"
呢句唔岩
因為hypochlorite係chlorine bleach入面其中一種成分
通常係NaOCl同Ca(OCl)2

我唸你可能混淆左bleaching同reaction between hypochlorite and dilute acid
bleaching係OCl- + dye-->Cl- + (dye-O)
