Propaganda - Toyota????????

I think people are now making a big deal out of the recall. Especially the customers, many of them are taking this advantage to file other complaints and to force Toyota to fix other problems for free. I worked in the service industry, and I know how cocky people can be. Is it really necessary to go through all these legal actions that we now see on media? Com'on. Many competitors are just now taking this opportunity to destroy Toyota, and I'm not surprised that they would do nasty things to hype this up. There is a problem, Toyota acknowledged it, and Toyota is going to fix it - done. Stop this media cr*p already.

I agree.....in the past there were many american car company's recalls....

Stop Abusing Toyota just because of a huge recall....gas pedals wear out if you constantly floor your car when you don't really need to.....temperature and humidity can also affect it.

I understand that everyone would agree that Toyota did hide this problem and everyone would obviously accept that American cars are better.

The fact of the matter is that all car companies have to go through recalls. Toyota & Honda are definitely being attacked by the government especially LaHood. He's constantly making a big deal about this...

First he says to stop driving toyota's (even Obama agreed)

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/02/0…

Then He later apologies for his idiotic words....

http://www.azcentral.com/business/articl…

I do understand that Toyota has included more than a million vehicles in this recall. Honda's wasn't even that severe....one incident triggered the whole situation & guess who made a public announcement.....YES LAHOOD.

Why didn't the government announce the GM recall... (more than 1.5 million vehicles)

http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/04/nhts…

Chevy recall.... (905,000 vehicles)

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2010/…

And yours truly Ford.... (more than 80,000 vehicles)

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04…

Toyota has made over 175 recalls within the year of 2000
Ford over 250+ (not too bad, very impressing, seems I can trust them)
Chevy over 700+
GM over 1000+

And you still love American Cars????

If Government did decide to make this public.............They're FINISHED. They have no money to make a recall.....sure they can do minor but major such as TOyota....they're gone.

Lahood and the transportation department are deliberately keeping this quiet just for the sake of keeping American car companies alive as well as aiding the economy. Oh sure the economy is going up as American car companies gain profit.....wait till Toyota starts firing people...UNEMPLOYMENT IS OFF THE CHART!

Toyota has employed hundreds of people, imagine them without jobs if Toyota left US. If they left we would be in an instant recession.

In some cases GM, Ford, Chevy needs Toyota for competition. It is because of Toyota Honda and Nissan GM, Ford and Chevy stand this good today....otherwise they would still use same old parts from 1990's.

Doesn't matter if Toyota made such a huge recall.....The downfall is that pretty soon Toyota will start firing workers and unemployment rates will increase. Look at the bright side....They will lose money and the CEO will have to invest into more safer technologies to make their vehicles better....

last time I checked GM begged the government for money, they showed up in their hybrid cars to prove them that they can improve.....lets see. Because of their irresponsibility I am losing my money as taxpayer. Why should I pay for their failures when I should worry about my savings, sending kids to college, keeping a roof over my family and feeding them.

This is all a media hype by the government to convince people to buy American cars....even if you have a Toyota just take it to the dealer and have your pedals fixed...it will only take 2 hours rather than you wasting more than $18,000 on a new car....Plus Toyota dealers are seriously listening to any complaints about their vehicles from numerous customers and providing quick and fast solution.

Every American car lover is being a bit too harsh on Toyota & Japanese cars....For your information....we need Toyota for Competition....Ford, Chevy GM watched how they rose to the top and now they're doing the same. STOP BRINGING UP WW2 as well...

Japanese cars are good, American Cars are good, all cars are good....mainly its human error which can end lives not cars.

An educated human can save lives.....especially their own (relating to the stick gas pedal...)
The witness who will testify, has no knowledge about cars....when her pedal was stuck she deliberately panicked (we all would) and constantly shifted into all the gears in her Lexus....L, 2, 3, 4 constantly gives power to the wheels.....she said the neutral didn't stop the car....why do you think it didn't stop the car....(because she kept shifting back to those gears....). She doesn't know anything about cars, she didn't even know anything about the Lexus's gears in her car.

She will deliberately attack toyota....."Shame on you, Toyota..."
參考: If any car recall hits over 1 million....it automatically has to hit the media.... Gm's recall never showed up....neither their customers didn't know about it Toyota is only taking safety measures to prevent anymore accidents...(Why can't America understand this?)

Toyota sucks
2010-02-24 12:13 am
looks like you say that 8.5 million people are wrong//no car company goes through this if its all smoke and mirrors/the toyota company would just gear up their massive advertising and blow the smoke out of the water/they have big REAL PROBLEMS and talk aint gonna fix it/only action

No 'big deal'? Just 'hype'?
Tell that to the families whose relatives have died in runaway Toyota vehicles, and to the millions who have invested a lot of money into vehicles that could that proven to be unsafe and of rapidly declining value.
2010-02-24 12:22 am
Propaganda?...no!..What are you on? Toyota just admitted to the press that it's pedal recalls will not totally fix the runaway issue. You want a toyota? Be my guest...buy two of them. Because I can tell you this. It won't be long before you will see buy one Camry, get one free. these care...all 8.5 million of them are ruined! Permanently unsafe. Wake up! Toyota has taken us. You don't see them offering money back on all those 8.5 million vehicles do you?---not even after they just admitted that the cars can never be guaranteed to be fixed. Toyota has the money for those cars now...Billions of dollars worth of American money...How nice of them to apologize, as they stuff their hands deep into their money stuffed pockets. They should have had the decency to attend the funerals of the people who died. But they were too busy building more defective cars. No propaganda here..just truth.

http://www.caranddriver.com/news/car/10q1/toyota_recall_scandal_media_circus_and_stupid_drivers-editorial

"We're no Toyota apologists, but if you look past the media circus, the numbers don't reveal a meaningful problem. Every man, woman, and child in the U.S. has approximately a one-in-8000 chance of perishing in a car accident every year. Over a decade, that's about one in 800. Given the millions of cars included in the Toyota recalls and the fewer than 20 alleged deaths over the past decade, the alleged fatality rate is about one death per 200,000 recalled Toyotas. Even if all the alleged deaths really are resultant from vehicle defects—highly unlikely—and even if all the worst things people are speculating about Toyotas are true, and you're driving one, and you aren't smart or calm enough to shift to neutral if the thing surges, you're still approximately 250 times likelier to die in one of these cars for reasons having nothing to do with unintended acceleration. So if you can muster the courage to get into a car and drive, the additional alleged risk of driving a Toyota is virtually negligible."

The government bails out GM and Chrysler and there's a media circus all on Toyota for something thats happened before inother cars.

From wikipedia:

"In February 2010, Edmunds.com released its findings on a review of all NHTSA complaints from 2001 to the present day, conducted in light of the Toyota recall crisis. The review found that Toyota ranked 17th among the 20 major car makes in number of complaints per vehicles sold, less than the Detroit Big Three, along with Honda, Hyundai, and Nissan.[115]
The Detroit News documented previous sudden unintended acceleration cases dating back to August 1978 when the NHTSA opened an investigation into General Motors for sudden acceleration, concluding eight years later DRIVER ERROR was the likely culprit. By 1986, over 2,000 injuries had been blamed on sudden acceleration and sudden acceleration complaints totaled over 10 percent of all complaints filed to the NHTSA. In 1986 the NHTSA launched an investigation of the 1981-84 Toyota Cressida and an additional five other automakers. By 1989 the NHTSA determined DRIVER ERROR was "the most probable explanation" for the complaints""

Homer: Lenny and Carl are never around on Wednesday, and they never tell me where they are going. It's like a conspiracy or something.

Bart: A conspiracy, eh? Do you think they were involved in the Kennedy assassination in some way.

Homer: I doooo...now.
