Chloride reacts with sulphur to form a compound with relative molecular mass of 135.2. The compound contain 52.5% of chlorine by mass
a) Deduce the molecular formula of the compound

Mole ratio S : Cl
= (100 - 52.5)/32.1 : 52.5/35.5
= 1.48 : 1.48
= 1 : 1

Then, let (SCl)n be the molecular formula of the compound.
(32.1 + 35.5) xn = 135.2
n = 2

Molecular formula = S2Cl2
