In outer space the density of matter is about one atom per cm^3, mainly hydrogen atoms, and the temperature is about 2.7 K.
Calculate the rms speed of these hydrogen atoms.
anw:260m/s

Use the formula: v^2 = 3RT/M
where v is the rms speed
R is Universal Gas Constant (=8.31 J/mol-K)
T is the absolute temperature
M is the molar mass

Hene, v = square-root[3 x 8.31 x 2.7/0.001] m/s = 260 m/s

Pressure = (1/3) x density x [rms speed]^2
Mass of a hydrogen atom = 1.66 x 10^-27 kg
density of hydrogen = 1.66 x 10^27 x 10^6 kg/m3
= (1/3) x (1.66 x 10^27 x 10^6) x 260^2 N/m2
= 3.74 x 10^-17 N/m2 = 3.7 x 10^-22 atm (take 1 atm = 10^5 N/m2)
