Even in a uniform electric field (e.g. the field between two opposite charged flat parallel plates), the potentials at any two points along the field line are not equal.

Electric field strength represents a potential gradient (i.e. the slope of potential). Equal potential gradient doesn't necessary imply that the potential is the same.
