Let Na2S•nH2O be the formula of the hydrated sodium sulphide.

Molar mass of Na2S = 23x 2 + 32 = 78 g/mol
Molar mass of H2O = 1x2 + 16 = 18 g/mol

Mole ratio Na2S : H2O
(240 - 162)/78 : 162/18 = 1 : n
1 : 9 = 1 : n

No. of hydrate, n = 9
