how do you factorise x^ - 5x? Probably really easy.?

x^2 - 5x
= x(x) - x(5)
= x(x - 5)

if it is x^2 - 5x = 0
x=0 or 5

if it is x^ - 5x = 0
then x=0 or x=5^

idk if this is right... but i think you get the common multiple of the two so it would be "x" then i think you divide x and 5x by x.

Let a = the number you omitted after the caret.
x^a - 5x = x(x^(a - 1) - 5)
