Death Note wasn't canceled. It was an adaptation of a manga, the manga ended so did the anime. And would they have a chance to rerun DN in the future? Sure.

that's stupid.... they do this all the time and in 6-7 years they suddenly decide to go on with the show but naturally people who used to watch that show previously have grown out of it....and those who watch anime series, are unfamiliar with that anime and that anime has lost its popularity....and then they wonder why they have to cancel the show after airing 5 episodes or so....duh!!!
