x^5 + 4x^4 - 6x^2 + ax +2 has remainder 6 when divided by x+2
thus if it has been x^5 + 4x^4 - 6x^2 + ax +2 - 6 then x+2 would have divided it
it means x+2 is a factor ofx^5 + 4x^4 - 6x^2 + ax -4

now all u need is to put the value of x=-2 in the equation
x^5 + 4x^4 - 6x^2 + ax -4
thus on putting x=-2 we have
(-2)^5 + 4(-2)^4 -6(-2)^2-2a -4 =0
4-2a=0
thus a=2

happy to help!!god bless u dear!!

Say "please" and I may just be persuaded to try.
