Solve for x.
3x - 2 = x + 10
3x - 2 - x = 10
2x - 2 = 10
2x = 10 + 2
x = 12/2
x = 6

3x-2=x+10
=>3x-x=10+2
=>2x=12
=>x=6
=>x-6=0

L; Get your Xs all on one side of the equation by subtracting an X on each side. Get numeric values on the other side by adding 2 to each side.Therefore 2X=12; X=6 and Y equals 6X. This is a straight line equation with a 6/1 slope. Remember a cardinal rule of math: You can add, subtract, multiply, divide, chage signs(-to plus&plus to -), square and make square roots on one side of an equation using any numbers and the equation will remain correct AS LONG AS YOU DO the EXACT SAME THING to the OTHER SIDEof thr EQUATION.Example: 2x2=4; (2x2)/4=4/4; 4-3=1;4-3+3=1+3
Hope this helps. Good Luck. 3X -X-2+2=X-X+10+2
