algebra help please? x² - x + 3 when x = - 3. the answer sheet says the answer is 15, i get -3?
回答 (12)
✔ 最佳答案
x^2 - x + 3
Substitute -3 for x.
(-3)^2 - (-3) + 3
= 9 - (-3) + 3
= 9 + 3 + 3
= 12 + 3
= 15
That's not the answer... That is saying what X is. Where X is you put -1/3 12 (-(-1/3)^3 12 (1/3)^3 12 (1/27) 12/27 4/9 is the answer.
( - 3)^2 - ( - 3) + 3
= 9 + 3 + 3
= 15
參考: my brain.
when x=-3,
x^2-x+3=
(-3)^2-(-3)+3=
9+3+3=
15
9 - (- 3 ) + 3
9 + 3 + 3
15
x^2 = -3 times -3 = +9...............minus times minus is a plus
-x = - - 3 = + 3...........................two minuses make a plus
+3
Add them up
+9 +3 +3 = 15
Equation: x² - x + 3
Substituting x with "-3" in the above equation..
(-3)² - (-3) + 3
= 9 - (-3) + 3 ----------- ( Since (-3)² = 9 )
= 9 + 3 + 3 ----------- ( Since - (-3) = + 3 )
= 15
The answer sheet is right !
(-3)(-3)=+9 and -(-3)=+3, so you get 9+3+3=15
x^2 - x + 3
= (-3)^2 - (-3) +3
= 9 +3 + 3
=15
note: negative negative equal positive
when x = -3
x^2 - x + 3
(-3)^2 - (-3) + 3
9 + 3 + 3 = 15
The minus 3 squared turns out to be 9
Then the minus negative 3 become plus three
Therefore the answer is 15.
