根本《聖經》就充滿流料，例如四福音書中就只有《馬太》及《路加》兩本有耶穌出生事蹟，連成書最早的《馬可》都沒有，而兩本福音之間矛盾嚴重（例如《馬太》版本的約瑟夫婦原本在伯利恆生活，誕下耶穌後因避難才輾轉去拿撒勒定居；《路加》版本的約瑟夫婦本來就在拿撒勒生活，因普查才去伯利恆並在那兒誕下耶穌），起碼有一本是捏造，再加上兩版本都與歷史不符兼情節荒謬，最大可能性是兩本福音都是老作！
