the barber paradox

2010-01-31 8:26 am
One large military ship is at sea
all its personnel are male sailors
one of these is a barber
this barber shaves exactly those ship personnel who do not shave themselves

The question is: who shaves the barber? (it cannot be answered logically until re-define the barber's task)
please re-write the story that can answer the question.

No matter how we try to answer this question, we get into trouble.

If we say that the barber shaves himself, then we get into trouble. The barber shaves only those who do not shave themselves, so if he shaves himself then he doesn't shave himself, which is self-contradictory.
If we say that the barber does not shave himself, then problems also arise. The barber shaves everyone who does not shave himself, so if he doesn't shave himself then he shaves himself, which is again absurd.

Re-write the story that can answer the question.

One large military ship is at sea all its personnel are male sailors except the barber. This barber shaves exactly those men in the ship who do not shave themselves
