In a food processing industry vinegar is pumped from the basement to an overhead tank at a height of 7m. If the flow rate is 700L/min,calculate the work done per minute and the power required. The density of vinegar is 1080kg/m^3.Neglect the friction and other losses.

Work done W = gain in potential energy of vinegar
hence W = (1080 x 700/1000)g x 7 J = 52920 J
where g is the acceleration due to gravity, taken to be 10 m/s2

Power = work done/time = 52920/60 J/s = 882 w
