it是代名詞，第三人稱單數，用於動物或死物，或不知性別的嬰兒。最常用的應該是講述事情、天氣和時間。

其實it的用途很廣泛，可以講述
a thing, animal, situation, idea etc.
the weather, the time, a distance etc.
a baby when you do not know what sex the baby is.
who is speaking, especially on the telephone.

其實沒有什麼必要求類似的生字，識字多不一定有用，識字更要知道它的用法才是有用。

你應先學會表達，強行增加詞彙量是沒有用的，這些要在閱讀中慢慢吸取。與其用恐怖的怪物，不如用淺白的文字，而且淺白的文字也可以有無窮的感染力。例子：
We shall fight on the hills, we shall fight in the streets... we shall fight with blood and sweat and tears.

坦白講，你miss英文都麻麻哋。

there are唔係有意思，而係當不是一個人是subject主詞的時候，而是說一件事情時，會用there is/are表達「有」件事。

那句e.g.
There are 3 activities...
意思係：「有」三件(種)事情(活動)...會舉行

不過後面部份就係唔碋的英文。冇英文係that will be held..這樣寫的。
正確的寫法應該係
There are 3 activities to be held.
First,...
Second,...
Third,...

that will be係好按文法規則的寫法，在activites後附加動詞便加上that表示係前面說的東西，will be係被動未完成式(那些activites將會發生)，但這樣卻變成不是正確的英文了。

假如按後面的寫法則前面要改：
The three activities that will be held are:
First,
Second,
Third,

我寫的to be已經包念future tense和被動式，而且不用that也可以。
不過這只是給你參考，可能因為這些真正英文比你要學的高好多班。

再者不要誤會there is/are係「那裏有...」，雖然there作為adv副詞係解那裏，here係解這裏，但There is/are作主詞則沒有分這裏那裏的，係「有」就係「有」，因此你唔好學以為會有個叫Here is/are的東西，沒有這樣的英文。

Here都可以作開句，不過仍是副詞。Here it is！「在這裏」
