Why are most black people poor?

Ok everyone... stop yelling "racist." I know it's a popular thing to do. I'm just going answer the question. Yes, it does seem like bad area's of major cities are inherently African American. Please don't reply with, "not all blacks are poor!" We all know this, but per the census, 26% of blacks are below the poverty line; when only 8% of whites are below poverty.

I believe this stems from the lack of parental guidance. An astonishing 65% of all black families are headed by single parents, compared to only 20% of white families. One of every ten blacks was imprisoned in the year 2000, compared to one in every 133 whites. This can only come from upbringing. Pop culture and the media teaches young blacks to steal, gang bang, and buy things they cannot afford. It's a status symbol. "If I look rich, then they will think I'm rich." I am an investigator, and see it every day. 99 out of 100 black americans I investigate have money problems... AKA live well beyond their means. The only thing I can think of is because of wanting to appear more wealthy than they are. I can understand that, because who doesn't... but it's African Americans who usually cannot manage their money, or make enough to support their lifestyle.

go back into US history and realize blacks are more accepted than they ever were in this country. just like every other race that is not caucasian. it just so happens that caucasian is a majority in our country, so somehow they still have more power. a lot of that is changing in our country.... it just takes time bc of the fact that there still are racist people out there. it is sad that this world is not an equal place for everyone. we all deserve the same things regardless of race, age, religion, etc.... but yeah it is how you are raised in all reality and it is true you see a lot of poor black communities.... there are many poor white communities too... we just call those people hooshiers...lol

i know you weren't trying to be racist with your question. you just have to be careful how you ask certain questions. some people get offended so easily when all you want is more knowledge. you'd be better off googling you're own questions on touchy topics like this quite honestly.

Actually, most black people do not live in ghettos or Africa, nor are they generally poorer than the majority of Asians in China or India. There are over a billion people in both India and China, the majority of whom live in poverty. Many more Asians in countries like Cambodia, Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are extremely poor. Many blacks live in suburban and rural areas in this country, and there also many black people in South America, The Caribbean, and Europe. Many white people also live in poverty in ghettos and slums, as well as in depressed areas such as Appalachia, the Ozarks, the rural south, The rust belt states, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, London, Liverpool, etc, etc, etc.

It is because of their area, Africa does not have much developed country, so their income is limited, unlike other countries like the USA, China, Russia etc.

Ok you failed to not make this sound racist (lol). First off. Most blacks don't live in "de ghetto". Most of them live in regualr neiborhoods, and rich places. Most black my live in the getto where YOU live. But if you count in ALL of the black people in this world, you'll find that most do not live in the getto. Esp celebrities. And there are ALOT of rich houses in Africa WAY bigger then america can build. People get lost in they're houses LOL. And alot of black people live in other continents like France, and London. And yes, some have the accent. Bottom line, most blacks don't live in the getto. And not all places in Africa are broke and all this stuff btw. Enjoy the wisdom that I have bestowed uopn you. :)

First of all, it's because white Americans have oppressed them so much back then that they could get jobs or go to a descent school and this was back in the 1960s when our parents we kids. It has nothing to do with the people, but the white who oppressed them, they were slaves remember? And Africa's not the only place full of starving people, so is eastern Europe and most of South America. "Da Ghetto"? Really? Wow, think about it, put two and two together. If you're grandparents couldn't get a job because of their color and their kids had to go to a segregated school, well it's kind of hard to get out of the neighbor if say those kids need to get small jobs straight after college to help take care of the family. Jeez, it's not just blacks, all races have a hard time. Africa is just filled with poverty, war, and disease. It's not because someone was black that there poor. It's circumstances! And Asians.....CHINA IS COMMUNIST and India????? WOW!
(also Asians in general value education as a whole more so than the whites and blacks)

Have you traveled all over this great nation of ours, or is your conclusion based on what's happening in the Inner City of what ever town you live in. because I got news for ya I have traveled all over and let me tell ya that by the numbers, there are more Poor White folks, then their are Black People in this country be they poor or rich, You do know that black folks only make up about 30% of the population. there are places in some of the south east states where white live so far below the poverty level it would make you sick to visit them. so get your facts straight before you go making raciest remarks.

WRONG??? BLACKS ARE POOR BECAUSE THE EURPEANS NEEDED SOMEONE TO WORK FREE LABOR, SO THEY WENT TO AFRICA AND KIDNAPPED AFRICAN. THEY HOOK THEM TO CHAINS AND SHACKLES THEY PLACED SHACKLES AROUND THEIR FEET AND NECK SO THEY WOULDN'T EXSCAPE. THEY MADE THEM WALK FOR DAYS UNTIL THEY ARRIVED TO A BOAT. THEY PLACED THEM IN A BOAT (MIDDLE PASSAGE) PUT 11 SLAVES TO A BUCKET AND HAD ALL OF THEM EATING OUT OF THAT ONE BUCKET. THESE SLAVES USED THE BATHROOM ON THEMSELVES AND HAD TO EAT WITH THE SAME HAND THEY WIPED THEMSELVES WITH. MANY AFRICAN DIED FROM FECES BEING IN THEIR FOOD. WHEN THEY ARRIVED TO AMERICA, THE WHITES MADE THEM WORK 400 YEARS ON THE PLANATION FOR FREE. THE WHITE SLAVE MASTERS WHIPPED THEM IF THEY DID NOT OBEY. THE SLAVES CHILDREN WERE ON THE PLANTATION AS EARLY AS 6 YEARS OLD..BLACK PEOPLE WERE WHIPPED IF THEY EVEN LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE TIRED. SOME RATHE DIE THAN LIVE IN MISERY. AFTER THE SLAVES GAVE BIRTH, THEY HAD TO RETURN BACK TO THE FIELD IMMEDIATELY! IN THE 1830'S DURING THE ANTEBELLUM PERIOD,THE WHITES SAID THAT BLACKS NEEDED THEIR OWN COMMUNITY AND SCHOOLS. THEY SAID THAT BLACKS WASN'T AS SMART AS THY WERE, BUT A SLAVE WAS WHIPPED IF CAUGHT READING A BOOK. THEY WOULD SNEAK AND TRY TO READ THEWHITE MASTER'S CHILDREN BOOKS. SO WHEN THEY WERE SEPARATED THEY MOVED TO THEIR OWN COMMUNITY. THAT'S WHY IT'S MORE WHITES IN THE COUNTY AND BLACKS IN THE CITY OR GHETTO! WHEN THE SLAVES WERE SET FREE, THEY BEGAN TO BE STEROTYPED BY WHITES. THEY SAID BLACKS ARE DANGEROUS. BLACKS STILL DID NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO VOTE, WHEN THEY FINALLY DID HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE, WHITE WOULD PROTEST AND BROADCAST BAD THINGS ABOUT THEM SO THEY WOULD NOT BE ELECTED. WHITES SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT BLACKS AS POLITIANS. WHEN SLAVE WERE SET FREE, THE AGREEMENT WAS TO GIVE EACH SLAVE TWO ACRES AND A MULE. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. BLACKS HAD TO START OFF FROM SCRATCH. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY. THEY WORKED 400 YEARS TO MAKE THEIR SLAVE MASTERS RICH. WHITE PEOPLE TURN THEIR NOSES UP AT BLACKS, THEY SHOULD THANK THEM. BLACKS ANCESTORS WORK HARD TO MAKE THEIR FAMILY RICH AND THE BLACK FAMILY SUFFERED! BLACKS DIDN'T HAVE EDUCATION BECAUSE THEY KEPT IT FROM THEM AND THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY SKILLS BECAUSE THEY WERE Enslaved FOR 400 YRS. THEY DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO PASS DOWN GENERATIONS. THE WHITE SLAVE OWNERS PASSED MONEY, BUSINESSES AND HOUSES TO THEIR FAMILIES, BLACKS WORK LABORIOUS JOBS TRYING TO CATCH UP. THE WHITES VIEWED THE WORLD AS BLACK AND WHITE. THEY TAUGHT EACH AND EVERYONE OF US RACISM. WHITE SLAVE OWNER TAUGHT THEIR CHILDREN ALL THE BAD STUFF ABOUT BLACKS AND PASSED IT DOWN. BLACKS FAMILY TEACH THEM FACTS ABOUT HOW THEIR ANCESTORS WAS TREATED DURING SLAVERY. WILLIE LYNCH AND THE JIM CROW LAW MADE THINGS EVEN WORST....NOONE KNOWS THE TRUTH ABOUT HISTORY BECAUSE BALTIMORESCHOOLS LIED! THEY WANT TO COVER THE BS BLACKS WENT THROUGH, SO THE TRUTH IS NOT BEING TAUGHT! DID YOU KNOW THAT THE GOVERNER REFUSE TO HAVE AN EXTRA TAX CUT FOR THE CITY, SO THEY CUT THE CIRICCIULM SHORT WHICH MEANS AFRICAN- AMERICANS ARE RECEIVING INADEQUATE EDUCATION.
